Music at St. Brendan's
St. Brendan's is blessed with many talented members of the congregation. Daniel May is our current Music Director and coordinates the liturgical music at St. Brendan's to ensure that our services are blessed with beautiful music. While we are holding live-streamed services online, due to Covid-19, this means working with our choir members to put together virtual anthems and curating a wide selection of music for our streamed service.
Sharing their gifts of talent and time, the choir continues its ministry at St. Brendan’s by providing an added dimension to our worship service. Middle/High school and adult singers are welcome. The music is a mix of classical and contemporary. Experience is not necessary only the love of music. From time to time, other members accompany the choir on musical instruments.
At St. Brendan's we want our children to learn "the language of our faith" and part of that language is learning a song or two! The children sing for the congregation during Children and Youth Sunday (the fourth Sunday of every month), so their moment to shine and sing the songs they have been learning becomes part of the service for all to enjoy!
In the early days of St. Brendan’s, the chime choir was the main musical offering. That group of dedicated musicians not only provided the offering on Sundays but gathered together to go out and bring their musical gifts to nursing homes and other groups. After all this time, the St. Brendan’s Chime Choir continues on as a multigenerational group in which people of all ages and musical experiences can
come together to celebrate their love for music and St. Brendan’s as they offer their gifts up to God.
